Jump the "ship" in Relationship and Save Yourself.

It is funny how one relationship can consume your whole life, and not in a good way. I am talking about the unhealthy kind of relationship that once used to build you up, but now it only breaks you down. You have been used to it for so long, and you are in it so deep that you do not know anything else. You keep on making excuses for your significant other's behavior, when others-like your family and friends-point out that there is nothing significant or special about it at all. Then, you begin to notice that you are not the same person anymore, and when you wake up, you do not love what you see reflecting back at you. Your pictures are somewhat of a lie. Your relationship is not picture perfect. Its imperfections are shining through all over your face when you look at yourself. Then, you have the sweetest realization. You decide that you are better than this, you deserve better than this, and that you have been in this for way too long. He is not going to change. It is exactly what it is. Now, you think to yourself: "This time it's all about me. I'm taking ME back, and I won't ever look back."

We highly recommend the following books to take YOURSELF back:

  1. The hardest thing is to realize and accept that people change, circumstances change. The person you once "loved" changed, or maybe you changed, and now that person just doesn't intrigue you as much as they once did. Maybe you grew and they didn't. Thats when they seem immature, and every little thing bothers you. Accept it. People change. We ourselves change. And when changes occur within us, they start to change things around us. But changes can be good. The real question is why are we as humans so afraid of change? Why does it scare us so much to leave what we know and go into the unknown?

  2. Thank you Nikki for commenting! I believe that change can always be turned into something positive, if you have the right attitude. I think humans are afraid of change because changing is not comfortable and it propels you outside of your safe zone. Sometimes it scares people and sometimes it just jolts them back into reality. In this article, the experience that I was referring to jolted me back into reality. I didn't go into the unknown fully. I decided that I wanted to get my old self back...the person I was before I met my ex. That was the result of my "sweetest realization."
