Review on the Rally For Sanity and or Fear.

Cool posters!

By Briana Booker

The Rally for Sanity and or Fear, organized by Comedy Central, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert was pretty epic! My friends and I had a great time! It was random, but nonetheless it shows that the American public wants its voice heard. No matter if you favored the Rally to Restore Sanity or the March to Keep Fear Alive, the message is obvious: Bring the government back to the people! Let us have our real say!

We do have a voice.

I personally think our government system needs to be completely reformed. We can keep our Constitutional order. It is what we stand for. But maybe we should learn to blend and balance our Elders with our youth in positions of power. Is not that in fact a true democracy?

Sometimes new faces and new ideas are necessary for a society to improve and progress. Maybe this is the time to think about creating a revolution that ends the revolution. Let us stop the cycle of avoiding agile functional operations. Let us minimize the greed in pushing forward political agendas.

It is just food for thought. But on a high note, does not Andrew Flannery, graphic designer of Fromgirltogirl, have artistic skills? Check out the cool shirts he made us for the Rally(definitely recommend him if you need shirts or any form of graphic designs done)! We got strangers to take pictures with us and won free t-shirts! We Can not beat that!

Shirt designed by Andrew Flannery, Fromgirltogirl Graphic Designer. Epic!

Thank God It's Friday: Stephen Colbert goes Live on Congress!

Although the concept of the Rally at the end of October is a political satire of the failures of our society, I promote comedian Stephen Colbert going before the House subcommittee on immigration and American employment. Colbert stays in character as a outspoken conservative. It is purely refreshing.

In Colbert's testimony he addressed the following:

To make the point that Americans will not settle for grueling agricultural jobs.

Some members of Congress thought his appearance in front of Congress was a waste of taxpayers' money, but I respect him using his rights as a citzen. We are wasting tax money on  a variety of things we do not request of daily, what is the problem with one more?

Republican Steve King, R-Iowa stated that immigrant workers recieve thousands of dollars in public services and that American citizens in the same labor circumstances would have decent pay for their hard labor.

Staying in character, Colbert mentioned his one day of hard labor...and stated to them never to make him do it again. " It's really, really hard." He mentioned the labor experience was back-breaking and requested rectification for the experience.

The best part for me was when Colbert was asked how many illlegal immigrants were in the fields working the one day he worked. Colbert says the following:

" I didn't ask for their papers, though I had a strong urge to." - Stephen Colbert.

One word- Epic.
